Huskies corral Wildcats, 63-22

LEWISTOWN — Jayda Kanagy scored 15 points as Mifflin County beat Mifflinburg in girls basketball on Friday night, 63-22.

Payton Weaver added a dozen points for the Huskies. Jalee Bodtorf and Leah Reed each had eight points. Mackenzie Peachey tallied seven points.

For the Wildcats, Brooke Gessner had 10 points and Natalie Osborne added six points.

The Huskies (4-6) outscored the Wildcats (1-5) in the first half, 32-8.

In the JV game, Mifflin County topped Mifflinburg, 44-16. Mya Felmlee had 20 Husky points.

Next, the Huskies visit Central Mountain on Monday at 7:30.

Juniata freezes Camp Hill, 46-28

HALIFAX — Juniata rolled by Camp Hill in the Halifax Candy Cane Classic on Friday, 46-28.

Regan Lowrey had 25 points for the Lady Indians (5-2). Mylee Landis added eight points and Sara Montoya posted six points.

Juniata outscored the Lions (4-5), 34-7, in the second half.

Brynnley Lesko and Lindsay Johnson each had seven points for Camp Hill.

9TH GRADE BASKETBALL

Huskies pummel Penn

The Mifflin County ninth grade girls basketball team defeated William Penn on Friday, 49-1.

Husky Maddie Peachey led the way in scoring with 16 points and Jemma Kanagy added 13. Every player contributed offensively with all eight players scoring.

The win moves the Huskies to 9-0 on the season. Mifflin County returns to action on Monday, Jan. 6 as they will host Altoona at Mifflin County High School for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
