Robert George Boaz

Robert George Boaz, 91, of Chelsea, Ala., Passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024.

Born Aug. 24, 1932, in Mattawana, the eldest son to the late George and Jennie Harshbarger Boaz, Robert is survived by brother, Ronald, of McVeytown and Marlin, of Longfellow and nieces, Tami and Nicki. His great role models were his uncles, who all served in WWII.

He graduated from McVeytown Oliver High School in 1950, after which, he went to work for Ford/New Holland and then the Pa. Sand Glass Co.

He was in the Army Reserves at Ford Belvoir, Va. in 1955. In the late 50s, he traveled to California, where he worked for a local post office, during which time he met and married his first wife, Mardell. Together, they had a daughter, Jennie, who is deceased, and James, a stepson, who is also deceased.

Leaving the post office, he went to work for Chevron for seven years, after which he joined the El Segundo Police Department for 23 years. He then spent several years working for Hughes Air Craft as security.

He graduated from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor’s degree and University of Southern California with a Master’s Degree.

A few years after Mardell’s passing, he met and married Fran. He retired and they moved to Nevada and then to Tennessee, Florida and Alabama over the next 40 years.

He loved to travel and spent a lot of time visiting different countries and cultures. He loved the country, history and baseball.

All services were private in the care of Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Pensacola, Fla.
