Man who fled crash scene identified

LEWISTOWN — A Mount Union man fled the scene after crashing his 2003 Dodge Ram Pickup truck on Saturday,

Sept. 21.

At about 4:25 p.m. Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to the area of Ferguson Valley Road, West where the pick-up truck was located in a cornfield.

The report states that Casey Huffman, 36, was traveling west when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway and drove off the left side, striking an embankment before going airborne and landing in a cornfield.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

Huffman fled the scene but was later identified.

Police investigating identity theft

McCLURE — Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to an identity theft attempt on Monday, Aug. 26.

According to the report, a 51-year-old Lewistown man was the victim as someone opened a checking account in his name around midnight. No money was lost. The investigation is still ongoing.

Charges filed in theft by deception

McCLURE — According to a report by Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown an 89-year-old McClure woman was the victim of theft by deception on Monday, July 15.

According to the report, the woman paid the unnamed person $500 to do a seal coating job for her but has since cashed the check and has not completed the work. Charges are pending.

No injuries sustained in Milroy crash

MILROY — A vehicle was towed after a wet roadway caused the driver to lose control of a 2015 Subaru Legacy on Tuesday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown, Sally Lin, 19, of Lewistown, was driving west on US Highway 322, Armagh Township.

Lin attempted to make a right-hand curve in the roadway but lost control of her vehicle. The Subaru traveled into the center barrier divider, striking a traffic sign before traveling back across the roadway striking the concrete barrier on the right-hand side of the road.

The report states that Lin was wearing her seat belt and remained uninjured although her vehicle sustained disabling damage as a result of the crash.

Police investigating burglary

MIFFLINTOWN — Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown are investigating a burglary that took place on Friday, Aug. 9.

According to the report, a 48-year-old woman was the victim of a robbery in which multiple jewelry items were stolen from her home on West River Road, Walker Township.

The items were valued at $3,825.

The unknown actor(s) fled the scene in an unknown direction as stated in the report.
