Man arrested after shot fired in apartment

From staff reports

LEWISTOWN — A Georgia man was jailed Monday after police said he shot off a gun in a Lewistown apartment.

Devarius Leon Williams, 32, of Riverdale, Ga., was arraigned Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline Leister on one count of aggravated assault, making attempts to cause injury; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; receiving stolen property; discharging a firearm into an occupied structure; terroristic threats and possession of firearms.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the Lewistown Police Department was dispatched to 18 S. Main St., Apartment 3, at about 10:30 p.m. Monday for a report of shots being fired.

A witness told police that Williams made several alarming comments that led them to believe he was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and that he was threatening to harm another individual.

According to the report, when the witness went to check on the victim, the witness heard a gunshot, which led the witness to going to police. The report says Williams texted the witness, stating that he dropped the gun, but the witness could not reach the victim.

When questioned, the victim told police that Williams shot a wall.

When searching the apartment, police noted a second gunshot hole in a bedroom.

Police determined the weapon — an IMI Baby Eagle 9mm semi-automatic pistol — had been reported stolen by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s office from Largo, Fla.

Williams is being held in Mifflin County Prison without bail due to being considered a threat to society and the victim. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. Oct. 30.
