Belleville man killed in hang-gliding accident
BELLEVILLE — A 68-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of a hang-gliding accident Monday afternoon.
According to a release from Mifflin County Coroner Andrea L. Alcalde, David C. Haugwout was operating an Aeros Hang Glider when the aircraft lost control and landed in the trees in the area of 2731 Jacks Mountain Road, Oliver Township.
The accident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. According to Alcalde’s office, the cause of death was positional asphyxia.
