SCI Huntingdon reports inmate death

HUNTINGDON –An inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon was found unresponsive in his cell on Friday, according to John Rivello, the jail’s superintendent.

Prison staff and medical personnel immediately responded and provided life-saving measures. EMS arrived and advanced life support measures were continued as he was transferred to Penn Highlands Hospital, where he passed away at 1:27 p.m.

Durham was serving 40-years-to-life for first degree murder from Beaver County. He had been at SCI Huntingdon since March 26, 1998.

In accordance with policy, the Pennsylvania State Police were notified and will conduct an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Huntingdon County Coroner’s Office.

The deceased’s next-of-kin has been notified.

Centre Co. receives transportation grant

PHILIPSBURG — A transportation improvement grant has been made available for Rush Township, Centre County.

A news release states that the $78,000 grant will be used for stormwater management and roadway improvements on Medical Center Drive.
