Dorothy Marie Downer, 99, of Lewistown, and formerly of Milroy, passed away on Saturday Aug. 17, 2024 at her home.

Born Aug. 1, 1925 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Grace (Bumgardner) Maben. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Downer, a son, James Downer, granddaughter, Chrisy Carol, siblings, Janet Maben and Elmer Maben, and son-in-law, James Bumgardner. She was the last of her immediate family.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Roxanne Miller and husband Larry, of Lewistown, Dottie Kauffman and husband Ned, of Reedsville, Arlene Bumgardner, of Summerdale, William Downer and wife Kathy, of Mill Creek, Nancy Briar and fiancÈ Randy Weaver, of Lancaster, 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, Bonny Downer, of Sunbury.

Dorothy had a deep love for playing bingo, where she made many friends and countless laughs. She had a passion for piecing puzzles together, reading brought her great joy, and listening to Willie Nelson’s music was a constant companion in her life. Above all, she was devoted to her family, and treasured every moment spent with them, particularly her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 24, 2024 at King Funeral Home and Crematory, 47 Carriage House Lane, Reedsville, with Pastor John Walters officiating. There will be a visitation held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery.
