Extension to offer ‘Swine Health Short Course’

UNIVERSITY PARK — Swine diseases and herd health are critical topics in pig farming, impacting animal welfare, productivity and the economic viability of swine operations, according to organizers of an upcoming Penn State Extension webinar, “Swine Health Short Course,” which will occur Nov. 14 from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This program is designed for pig producers, local veterinarians and other animal health workers.

Effective management of herd health involves understanding, preventing and controlling various swine diseases, organizers noted. Instructors will share updates on education and swine health needs among small and independent producers.

Penn State Extension experts and veterinarians from across the country will discuss diagnostic services, resources for managing pig illnesses, diseases of local and national importance, and identifying and preventing those diseases.

Starting at $2.99/week.
