Richard J. ‘Dick’ Junk

Richard J. "Dick" Junk, 64, of Honey Grove, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at his home.

Born on June 26, 1950, Derry Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late James M. and Beatrice I. (Jacobs) Junk. On June 1, 1974, he married his surviving wife, Karen C. (Himes) Junk, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Traci Fowler and husband, Shawn, and Michael Junk and wife, Buffie, all of Honey Grove; a brother, Donald J. Junk and his wife, Linda, a sister, Gayle A. Foltz and husband, Robert, all of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Rachael Fowler, Carl Fowler, Luke Fowler and Adalynn Junk; and his dog and faithful companion, Jack.

Mr. Junk was a member of the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove, and a former member of the Central PA Logger and Lumberman's Association. Richard also served on the advisory board of the Port Royal branch of the Juniata Valley Bank and in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He was a 1968 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal, and later, owned and operated R.J. Junk Lumber, East Waterford.

Richard's hobbies included hunting and fishing.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove, with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. After the service, interment will take place in the McCoysville Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the church.
