LEWISTOWN - The deadline to register for the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata's Day of Caring is Wednesday.
The organization seeks teams of volunteers and projects for its 17th annual Day of Caring, which will be held Sept. 17.
The event provides nonprofit human service agencies with an opportunity to complete projects they could not otherwise afford to do by asking area residents to donate a day of community service.
The United Way is seeking projects from those agencies. Any incorporated nonprofit or government entity, school or neighborhood association can submit projects, regardless of whether it is a United Way partner agency, and can focus its resources on those it serves.
Volunteers in Mifflin and Juniata counties are also needed to work on the projects. Teams are formed from individuals at local businesses, associations, service groups and other nonprofits. Teams can be any size and any skill level. Day of Caring is a free event for participants.
