Byron C. Earnest, 94, of Milroy, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at his home.
Born March 2, 1920, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Harvey P. and Sarah M. (Bedlyon) Earnest.
He is survived by: his wife, Delores (Stover) Earnest, whom he married on April 25 ,1977; his children, Linda Boreman, of Lewistown, Viola Burkholder and husband, Michael, of Colorado, William Earnest and wife, Michelle, of Lewistown, and Helen McKnight and husband, Keith; a stepdaughter, Luann Benner; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey S. and David L. Earnest and his sister, Helen (Earnest) Snyder.
Byron was a graduate of Lewistown High School and had worked at Luck Monument Company most of his life. He started Lewistown Monument Company in 1981 and retired in 1998.
He had enjoyed flying and spending time with his family and he loved his dog, Smoke.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Robert Zorn officiating.
His family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Interment will be private in Mount Rock Cemetery.
