Florence Belle Smith, 99, a resident of Ohesson Manor and formerly of Grandview Drive, died at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Geisinger-Lewis- town Hospital.
Born Oct. 30, 1914, in Newton Hamilton, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Clara Belle (Vaughn) Gifford.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Luther S. Smith, in 1968; her son, Floyd E. Smith; a grandson, Steve Smith; brothers, Edward, Charles and Leon Gifford; her identical twin sister, Flora Shields; and sisters, Rose Geib and Josephine Ripple.
She is survived by: her sons, Raymond L. Smith and wife, Barbara, of Lancaster, and Robert S. Smith, of Baltimore, Md.; nine grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; and a long-time close friend, Suzanne Grassmyer, of Lewistown.
She was a graduate of Mount Union High School.
Florence was the owner of City View Trailer Park for more than 50 years.
She was a very active member of the Centre Union Church. She was a member of the West Granville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Mifflin County Historical Society.
Florence deeply appreciated all things of nature and gardening and loved spending time with family and friends.
Her funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., with Pastor Kurtis Swisher officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, at the funeral home.
