Richard L. "Dick" Miller, 88, of Alfarata, died at 8:02 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born Dec. 20, 1925, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Myrtle McCardle and was raised by his grandparents on Shaw Avenue, Lewistown.
He is survived by: his wife, Lois R. (Angney) Miller, whom he married on July 20, 1949; a daughter, Linda L. Anderson, of Alfarata; grandchildren, Scott Anderson, Tammy Lutes and Ryan Miller; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Sierra Lutes and Evan Miller; a brother, Robert McCardle and wife, Pat, of Mount Joy; sisters, Madeline White Lan and husband, Jack, of New Kensington, and Sarah Kinlock, of Downingtown; and a sister-in-law, Margie Miller.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Miller, in 1990 and three brothers, Lewis Miller and Gerry and Bill McCardle.
He was a 1944 graduate of Lewistown High School and had been employed at the Royale Dairy, American Viscose Corporation, Standard Steel and lastly, at Marlette Homes.
Dick was a member of the Maitland Church of the Brethren and had been attending the Vira Methodist Church.
He enjoyed working on airplane parts, working on furniture and tending to their flowers.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family and private interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
