John R. Himes Sr., 86, of McClure, died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born July 11, 1928, in Decatur Township, he was the son of the late Rush and Triffie (Wright) Himes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanch H. (Colyer) Himes, on Nov. 14, 1983, and a sister, Beatrice Brower.
John is survived by: his son, John R. Himes Jr., of McClure; his daughter, Karen Junk and husband, Richard, of Honey Grove; grandchildren, Tracie Fowler and husband, Shawn, and Michael Junk and wife, Buffie; and great- grandchildren, Rachael Fowler, Carl Fowler, Luke Fowler and Adalynn Junk.
He had been employed in the spinning department at the American Viscose Corporation.
He was a member of Samuel's Church in McClure.
John enjoyed old country music and watching NASCAR racing. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Samuel's Church, 480 Samuel's Church Road, McClure, with Pastor Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Samuel's Cemetery, McClure.
His family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, at the church.
