Benjamin Richard Byler, 26, of 155 Roy I Road, Belleville, passed away peacefully at 1:29 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Born June 13, 1988, in Lewistown, he was the son of David R. and Darlene M. (Hain) Byler, of 155 Roy I Road, Belleville.
He is survived by his brother, Adam L. Byler, of Mount Joy.
Ben was a 2008 graduate of Indian Valley High School. He attended Union Elementary for first and second grade and attended Belleville Mennonite School for nursery school and kindergarten. He also attended Juniata College for pre-school and a pre-school program at the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit.
He was a graduate of the Mifflin-Juniata Special Needs Center Early Intervention Class and was featured one year in the Mifflin-Juniata United Way Campaign as well as the Children's Miracle Network.
Ben received two double lung transplants in 1997. He enjoyed representing the Gift of Life Donor Program by riding his little red car in local parades.
He loved spending time with his Mom, Dad and big brother. Benjamin enjoyed coloring, watching movies, reading, listening to music, singing and going to Disney World.
Benjamin's radiant personality, beaming smile, and boundless love for others expressed his love for Jesus and touched so many in a special way.
Earlier in his life, Ben attended Locust Grove Mennonite Church in Belleville.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, with Pastor Kari Swigart officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the church, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, at the church.
