LEWISTOWN - During a brief business meeting on Thursday, the Mifflin County Commissioners:
Approved a resolution authorizing the chairman and chief clerk to sign a highway safety patrol grant to be used for sobriety checkpoints and expanded DUI/underage drinking enforcement.
Approved an application for an allocation from 2014 liquid fuels funds from Derry Township in the amount of $17,857.49.
Approved requests for real estate tax refunds for a parcel in Armagh Township where a mobile home was removed in the amount of $101.46, A parcel in Brown Township where a double-wide home was removed in the amount of $252.49, and a parcel in Derry Township where the value was reduced following an appeal hearing in the amount of $41.20.
Approved an environmental covenant for the former Sitkin Smelting property to separate two parcels that are designated brownfield areas from the remainder of a 19 acre tract of land to clear the way for selling the remaining acreage.
Approved a request for exoneration of a 2014 real estate tax bill on a parcel located in Wayne Township which has been approved for the clean and green program. The parcel will be rebilled with the supplemental billing.
Approved an offer of $100 for a mobile home that is listed in repository for unsold properties.
Approved a purchase of service agreement with Robert Ferguson, of Lewistown, for participation in adult and juvenile treatment court for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, at a rate of $812.50 per month.
Announced there will be no meeting on July 31. The commissioners will hold a workshop meeting on Thursday, August 7.
