GALLOWAY, N.J. - Several local athletes placed in the USA Track and Field Region 2 Championships from July 11-13 at Richard Stockton College in New Jersey.
Jeremiah Parson was the big winner, bringing home three first-place finishes.
Parson collected top spots in the 400-meter (53.66 seconds), 800-meter (2:09.13) and a 4x800 relay gold with Seth Phillips, Garrett Baublitz and Garren Wolfgang (9:33.75).
Josiah Sechler earned the other first place for the local contingent, throwing the javelin 29.77 meters.
Baublitz and Phillips also picked up second-place finishes individually. Baublitz crossed the line in the 1,500-meter run in 4:30.41 and Phillips clocked a time of 55.15 seconds in the 400-meter.
Phillips and Baublitz added another second with Parson and Cade Richardson, running the 4x400 relay in 3:57.68.
The girls were led by Kiana Sechler, who earned third-place finishes by leaping 1.35 meters in the high jump and 4.12 meters in the long jump and Justice Sheaffer, who added a third-place in the javelin (19.77 meters).
Three more local athletes finished in the top five of their respective events, qualifying them for the national championships to be held in Humble, Texas, from July 21-27.
Malik Sechler registered a fourth-place in the triple jump (12.42 meters), and fifth-place in the long jump (5.91 meters).
Justin Jacobs (javelin, 37.02 meters) and Jordon Fisher (high jump, 1.70 meters) also added fourth-place marks.
