LEWISTOWN - James L. Beaver, 74, of Lewistown, died at 2:41 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Aug. 13, 1939, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late James C. and Jane G. (Elder) Beaver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Bailor) Beaver, on Nov. 22, 2010.
James is survived by: sons, Wayne Beaver, of Milroy, and James Beaver, of Brookville, Ohio; grandchildren, Nicole Sammons, Amber Cunningham, Tawni Beaver and James Beaver; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Sammons, Dominic Davis and Cheyanne Sammons; and siblings, Carol Macknair and husband, Robin, of McClure, Edwin Beaver and wife, Ruth, of Henderson, Nev., Alice Beaver, of Ringtown, Connie Dinkler and husband, David, of Muncy, Marianne Beaver, of Lewistown, Edith Leach and husband, Paul, of Thompsontown, and Paul Beaver and wife, Pamela, of Lewistown.
James served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965.
He was employed at Standard Steel as a motor repairman from 1968 to 2001.
James was a member of Fifth Street Church of Christ in Lewistown, where he was an elder for three years.
He loved fishing, hunting, and especially camping with his wife, which was one of his biggest joys in his life. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
James was always repairing things. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone.
Services will be private and interment will take place in New Church Hill Cemetery in Port Royal.
