MIFFLINTOWN - For 25 years Trustworthy Travel Agency, Mifflintown, has been helping the people of central Pennsylvania book their vacations.
In celebration, the business is hosting a customer appreciation day in honor of its milestone anniversary on July 12. Owner Jerry Baker said the day is meant to be a way the agency can show its gratitude toward its loyal customers.
"It's something to give back to the community for the 25 years of patronage. We have a lot of loyal people who book with us again and again," he said.
The event is being held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature two performances by the Ole '97 Johnny Cash and June Carter Tribute Band. The band will perform at noon and 3:30 p.m. Baker recommends people bring a lawn chair with them to enjoy the performances.
At 5 p.m. the agency will start giving away a variety of door prizes. There will also be a concession stand.
In addition, Mike Lupfer, No. 1 Late Model points leader at the Port Royal Speedway, will be at the event to take pictures and sign autographs for fans.
Baker and his wife, Alice, opened Trustworthy Travel on June 1, 1989, influenced by their love of travel.
"My wife and I always traveled and we thought there was a need for a travel agency in Juniata County," he said.
Along with his two full-time employees, Karen Stutts and Jennifer Buchannon, Baker is determined to make planning a trip easier by booking hotels and tickets for every customer.
"Personalized service is what people want and we will sit with them until they feel comfortable (with their travel plans)," he said.
Trustworthy Travel is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
