Concert tickets must be ordered by July 1
LEWISTOWN - The Mifflin-Juniata Concert Association will close its campaign for the 2014-2015 season on July 1.
Renewals or new memberships, with checks made out to M-J Concerts, may be mailed to: Box 208, Lewistown, PA 17044. Memberships will be mailed to subscribers in late summer.
The series includes: Live From Nashville, 3 p.m., Sept. 14; Fernando Varela, tenor, 7:30 p.m., Oct. 16; Brothers on the Battlefield, 7:30 p.m. March 19, 2015; Four Celtic Voices, 7:30 p.m., April 14, 2015; and Let's Hang On, a Frankie Valli and Jersey Boys tribute, 7:30 p.m., May 2, 2015.
Season memberships are $48. One night only tickets will be sold at the door for $25 at each concert.

Heritage Brass to play in State College
STATE COLLEGE - Heritage Brass will perform the fourth event of the 2014 Music Picnic Series at South Hills School of Business and Technology in State College.
The free concert will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday on the north lawn of the school's main campus at 480 Waupelani Drive, State College.
The brass quintet will play favorites from the '30s, '40s and '50s.
The outdoor concerts are held rain or shine. Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic suppers. Grounds open at 5 p.m.; music starts at 6 p.m. and lasts until 7:30 p.m.
Parking is free and restrooms are available.

Historical society plans Maine trip
LEWISTOWN - The Mifflin County Historical Society is sponsoring a fall bus trip to Maine from Sept. 8 to 12.
The tour includes stops at: Old Port (historical district of Portland), the home of Henry Wadsworth-Longfellow, the Portland Head Light (historic lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth), National Historic Landmark Victoria Mansion (also known as the Morse-Libby Mansion), Bar Harbor, Bath Ironworks Shipyard, Maine Maritime Museum, Acadia National Park, L.L. Bean flagship Store and much more.
The cost for society members is: Single, $1,215, double, $994, triple, $925; non-members, single, $1,240, double, $1,019, triple, $950. Half of the total cost is due at the time of reservation. Final payment is due Aug. 10.

Theatre camps being offered by GENEROO
BEAVER SPRINGS -Registrations are now being accepted for GENEROO Theatre Camps for students to be held at West Snyder Elementary School in Beaver Springs.
The Middle School/High School Theatre Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 7 to 11. The focus will be musical theatre. The cost is $35.
The Grade School Theatre Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 9. The camp will emphasize the basics of theatre and theatre games. The cost is $10.
The camp will culminate with the one-act musical production of "Once On This Island Jr." at 7 p.m. on July 11 and12 at West Snyder Elementary School.

American Legion to host classic car show
McCLURE - The fourth annual American Legion classic car show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 28 at American Legion Post 942, 40 Forbes St., McClure.
Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon and the entry fee is $12. The fee is reduced to $10 if paid by June 23. Trophies will be awarded in various categories.

2nd Annual Davy Jones Day slated
BEAVER SPRINGS - The Middlecreek Area Community Center is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Davy Jones Memorial Day which will be held June 28.
The event runs from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Beavertown carnival grounds. There will be live music, food and karaoke. The unveiling of the Davy Jones Memorial Statue will also take place. The bed race will begin at 1 p.m. at the Beaver Springs Dragway.

Adult ceramics class offered at art school
PETERSBURG - Enrollment is now open for an adult ceramics class to be offered at the C. Barton McCann School of Art from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays July 2 to July 30.
Geared toward beginner to intermediate potters, the class will teach wheel throwing, trimming and glazing. Participants will also be introduced to carving and relief design techniques.

Music and activities set for Victory Park
LEWISTOWN -Acoustic music, food and activities for kids will be a part of the Red, White and Blue Picnic in the Park from 5 to 9 p.m. on July 5 at Victory Park in Lewistown.
The event is sponsored by WCHX, Star Country and WKVA radio.
Special day to be held in Yeagertown
YEAGERTOWN - Yeagertown Community Day will start at 8 a.m. on July 19.
There will be neighborhood yard sales.
Activities at the Yeagertown United Methodist Church on Mann Avenue will include an inside yard sale, free hot dogs and drinks, and the restrooms will be open to the public.
Millerstown Flea Market is Aug. 16
MILLERSTOWN -Millerstown's Annual Outdoor Flea Market and Craft Show will be held Aug. 16 at the Millerstown Community Park, 110 West Juniata Parkway, near the Millerstown swimming pool, just off the ramps of U.S. 22-322.
Flea market vendors, yard sale individuals, craft vendors, antique vendors, farm market and produce vendors and businesses are all welcome to set up for the day for a fee of $10. More than 100 vendors are expected. No prior registration is required. Set up after 5:30 a.m. on the morning of the show. Rain date is Aug. 23.
