EAST WATERFORD - Donald A. Reed Sr., 71, of East Waterford, died at 12:20 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2014, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born on Aug. 29, 1942, in Doylesburg, Franklin County, he was a son of the late James A. and Violet (Reisinger) Reed. On June 30, 1968 he married his surviving wife, Judy M. (Kirk) Reed, with whom he shared nearly 46 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Sally Kepner and her companion, Brian Mason, of Fayetteville, Donald A. Reed Jr. and his companion, Bobbi Jo Alleman, of East Waterford, Tammie Reed and her companion, Curt Harlan, of McCoysville; siblings, Carl Reed and his wife, Violet, James Reed, all of Spring Run, Lester Reed and his wife, Cathy, of Mifflin; grandchildren, Amanda Pimentel, Allen Reed and his wife, Kayla, Alesha Reed; and he leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Christian Pimentel and Lilliana Pimentel.

One brother, Larry Reed, one sister, Nancy Reed, and one granddaughter, Carin Johnson, preceded him in death.

Mr. Reed was a member of the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove, the James McCartney American Legion Post 232, Dry Run and the East Waterford Fire Company for 37 years.

In earlier life, he worked for Penn DOT, Roy Wingate Logging and later he worked for East Waterford Textile, until his retirement in 1987.

Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War.

He was a dog lover and an avid sportsman, who loved fly fishing, hunting, professional wrestling and NASCAR racing. He also enjoyed reading and watching TV.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, from the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove, with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery, where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
