McCLURE - Peggy L. Walter, 66, of Bannerville Hill Road, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Pinnacle Health in Harrisburg .
She was born on Jan. 16, 1948 in Lewistown, a daughter of the late Paul and Betty (Knepp) Baker. On Aug. 6, 1966, she married Jerry L. Walter who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are: three sons and spouses, Mark and Carol Walter, of Beavertown, Christopher and Tracy Walter, of McClure, and Jason Walter and companion, Nichole, of Beavertown; five grandchildren, Amanda, Kimberly, Matthew, Christopher and Nicholas; one stepgrandson, Ty DeLong; three great-grandchildren, Julie, Elizabeth and Kahlee; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Michael Baker, Paul Baker Jr. and wife, Bonnie, and David and Teresa Baker.

Peggy was a 1966 graduate of West Snyder High school .
After school she had worked at the McClure Shirt Factory. She clerked for both Jay Lauver and Wagner's auctioneering services. Peggy was a very caring and loving homemaker and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and helped raise her two grandsons Christopher and Nicholas who referred to her as "Gree."
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in McClure.
Peggy was a talented seamstress creating blankets for all her grandchildren, a beautiful flower girl dress for her granddaughter, and an elegant wedding gown for her daughter-in-law, Tracy. In her spare time she enjoyed crossword puzzles and was known for making the best apple pies. She and her husband had spent many years traveling to New York to help make apple butter to raise money for the Knowlesville United Methodist Church; however, the main love of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in McClure with Rev. Kathy Mercado officiating.
Burial will follow in the McClure Union Cemetery.
