LEWISTOWN - James F. Griffith Jr., 79, of 358 Summit Drive, Lewistown, entered peacefully into eternal life at 5:28 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at his home.
Born Dec. 1, 1934, in Belleville, he was a son of the late James F. Sr. and Beatrice (Stuter) Griffith. He was preceded in death by his wives, Marilyn (Bigelow) on Sept. 23, 1978, and Adrienne (Aumiller) Griffith on April 10, 2011.
Surviving are: his children, Lisa Griffith Fintl and husband, Helmuth, of Germany, Leslie Roth and husband, George, of Los Gatos, Calif., Lynn Ellen Griffith, of Belleville, Gretchen Zoe Major, of Lewistown, and Kurt Steltzer, of Pittsburgh; brothers and sisters, Jack R. Griffith, of Belleville, Ronald R. Griffith and wife, Carol, of Belleville, and Margaret Marrone and husband, Ronald, of Lewistown; and a sister-in-law, Maria Griffith, of Reedsville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph C. Griffith.
Jim graduated Menno- Union High School in 1952. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955, during the Korean Conflict with the hunter, killer, destroyer division, group No. 22. He was aboard the USS Murray destroyer.
He was employed at Ka-Vee Dairy Products in Belleville as a plant manager and later, went to work at Ford-New Holland until his retirement in 1991.
He was a member of the West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church in Belleville. He was a member of the Stroup-Alexander VFW Post No. 5935, Belleville, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Lewistown Elks.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed football and baseball. He was a lover of animals. He played the guitar and enjoyed listening to country music.
