BELLEVILLE - Chris Stewart Grove, 53, of 3821 W. Main St., Belleville, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, as a result of a trucking accident.
He was born March 25, 1961, in Huntingdon, to James Stewart and Donna Jane (Reihart) Grove, of Belleville.
Chris was first united in marriage to Mary (Leuthold) on June 13, 1987, and they had two sons, Mark Chale Grove, who lives in Michigan, and Matthew Carl Grove and his wife, Jessica (Folk), who live in Elizabethtown. He and Mary divorced in 1990. He was then united in marriage to Kelly Ann (Goss) on June 28, 1996, and they have one daughter, Jennifer Piccola Grove, who lives at home. Chris has four grandchildren, Taylor, Emily, Lucas and Arabella Grove, all of Michigan.
He also is survived by: his maternal grandmother, Jane (Hatfield) Reihart, of Hesston; and two sisters, Pamela Densie Kratzer and husband, James, of Portales, N.M. and Kathryn Irene Stanbrough and husband, Michael, of Huntingdon.
Chris graduated from Juniata Valley High School in 1979. He was a disabled American veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1979 until December 1983. He won a number of awards while serving most of his time in Germany. He was a sharp shooter and won first place in his unit for pistol shooting.
After his discharge, he attended Mid-Michigan Community College, where he obtained an associates degree in drafting and engineering in 1987.
His first job was with his father. They operated Handyman Services in Donation. He then became a corrections officer at SCI Huntingdon. He retired from there with 20 years of service.
After his retirement, he drove water truck for Marcellus Shale sites in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. Next, he became employed with Gromark Inc., as a sprayer/applicator. Lastly, he was the owner/operator of CS Grove Transport in Belleville.
In the short time he spent as operator of CS Grove Transport, he enjoyed hauling for the Amish and Mennonite in the community. He made many new friends and acquaintances.
Chris also enjoyed riding motorcycles, four-wheelers and basically anything with wheels. Chris was an avid thinker and will be remembered for his special love for his parents, wife and children.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville, with Pastor George "Buddy" Baird officiating. Burial will take place at Salem Cemetery in Milroy.
His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
