YEAGERTOWN - Thomas A. "Tom" Molek Sr., 83, of Yeagertown, died at 12:01 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born April 15, 1931, in Fairbanks, he was the son of the late Jozeph M. and Emily (Galica) Molek.
Tom is survived by: his wife, Mary (Mitchell) Molek, whom he married in 1952; his children, Thomas Molek Jr. and wife, Linda, Antoinette Shepherd and husband, Doug, Steven Molek, Jeffrey Molek, all of Lewistown, and Beth Shoop, of Belleville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his brothers, Walter, Stanley and Joseph Molek; his sisters, Antoinette Baran, Helen Carpenelli, Nancy Nerenberg and Angela Lowery; a son-in-law, Andrew Shoop; and a grandson, Joshua D. Shepherd.
He was a 1951 graduate of Burnham High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was part-owner of Molek Brothers. He was drafted during the Korean War and was based in Atlanta, Georgia as a welding instructor.
Tom enjoyed spending time at his son's farm, hunting, fishing and gardening and loved spending time with family and friends.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Avenue, with Father William Weary officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
