STATE COLLEGE -
Charles E. Fidler Jr., 73, of the Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, State College, formerly of Milroy, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the home.
Born on Dec. 16, 1940, in Lebanon, Lebanon County, he was a son of the late Charles E. Sr. and Bertha (Heck) Fidler. On March 10, 1989, he married Zelda (Laird) Fidler, who preceded him in death on April 12, 2005.
He is survived by: his children, Rosemarie Zimmerman and her husband, Jed, of Thompsontown, Sherry Hemperly, of Harrisburg, and Heather Gill, of Pittsburgh; siblings, Blanche Guthridge and Betty Fidler, both of Lewistown, Gladys Garloff and Edward Fidler, both of Lebanon, and Gail Adair, of Port Royal; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Three brothers, Paul Fidler, James Fidler, and Roy Fidler and one sister, Joann Landis, preceded him in death.
Charles was employed as a truck driver for Aumiller Salvage, Halifax and later by Zimmerman Truck Lines, Mifflintown. He enjoyed hunting and was a self-taught home mechanic.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. David Landis officiating. Interment will follow in the Maitland Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, May 29, 2014, at the funeral home.
