William J. Rhodes

LEWISTOWN - William J. Rhodes, 71, of Logan Street, Lewistown, died at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at his home.

Born June 5, 1942, in Bratton Township, he was a son of the late Jay R. and Dorothy F. (Renninger) Rhodes. His wife, Donna J. (Miller) Rhodes, whom he married Nov. 7, 2008, survives. His first wife, Ruth E. Rhodes, preceded him in death on July 5, 2007.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Lori E. Moist and husband, R. Scott, of Lewistown; two stepdaughters, Linda Piper and husband, Tim, of Lewistown, and Suzanne Shoemaker, of Lewistown; seven siblings, JoAnn Plank, of Granville, James R., of Belleville, Grace Markley, of McVeytown, Randy L. and wife, Tammy, of Lewistown, Karen Rhodes, of Lewistown, Johnny L. and wife, Holly, of Granville, and Ricky L. and wife, Lynn, of Lewistown; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Knepp, of Lewistown, and Larue Knepp, of McClure; three grandchildren, Kasey Adams and husband, Derick, Kody W. Moist, and Joseph E. Moist; and two great-grandchildren, Piper E. and Hayden W. Adams.

He was preceded in death by: a brother, Robert M. Rhodes; sister, Darlene Yoder; a nephew, Ricky Rhodes; and a cousin, Linda Knepp.

Early in life he worked for Merrill Latherow, Harold Hill, Fry Motors and Halls Trucking as a member of the Teamsters. He also was employed in a number of local autobody repair shops and retired in 2006 from Dumor, Inc., in Mifflintown.

Bill enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast at the Kountry Kitchen in McVeytown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Donald E. Peters Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Harshbarger Funeral Home 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.
