BELLEVILLE - Helen F. Stuter, 90, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, went to be with the Lord at 9:25 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Haven.
Born on June 6, 1923, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Clara E. (Forney) Wike. Her husband, Edgar A. Stuter, whom she married on Aug. 25, 1945, passed away on Dec. 25, 2010.
She is survived by: her children, Byrd C. Stuter, of Spokane, Wash., Barbara Conner and husband, Bernie, of Oviedo, Fla., and Gary R. Stuter and wife, Lena, of Milroy; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Ann, who passed away on Oct. 11, 1955, and eight brothers and sisters.
Helen graduated from the Western Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She became a registered nurse and was employed at Lewistown Hospital for 30 years. After her retirement, she did some private duty nursing.
She was a member of the West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, a member of the Belleville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Stroup-Alexander VFW Post No. 5935 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Belleville Civic Club and Belleville Bridge Club.
Helen enjoyed knitting and playing cards.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, with Pastor Max Zook officiating. A private burial will take place at Machpelah Cemetery, Belleville.

Arrangements are under the care of Henderson Funeral Home Inc., 3813 W. Main St., Belleville.
Helen's family would like to acknowledge the entire administration and staff at Valley View Haven for the exceptional care, devotion and dedication given to their mother during her stay there.
