MIFFLINTOWN - A property located at 20 N. Third St., Mifflintown, has been purchased by Juniata County.
Commissioner Robert Reynolds said the property is located near other pieces of land owned by the county. Parcel 8-1-116 was purchased after it was listed for sheriff's sale.
Commissioner Teresa O'Neal said an appraisal was done of the property and the cost came in well under the appraised value. She said the property was not discussed publicly prior to purchase in order to uphold the integrity of the sale.

Reviewed the following informational items: March 2014 Summary of Collections Report - Fines and Costs, submitted by Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline T. Leister; the Tax Claim Cash Report for first quarter 2014, submitted by Tax Claim Director Brenda J. Varner; and the amended Juniata County Children and Youth Social Services and Probation Expenditure Report for the period Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, submitted by Fiscal Assistant Robyn Ventresca.
Approved the appointment of Gayle Landis to the Juniata County Human Services Delivery Fund Board. Landis replaced Kathleen M. Graham, who has retired. The board also approved Landis as the county representative for the Area Agency on Aging Emergency Food Shelter program board. The term of each office is effective Tuesday and remains open-ended.
Approved a Liquid Fuels Fund allocation of $50,000 for 2014.
Approved checks Nos. 40,109 through 40,162 in the amount of $94,164.29.
