LEWISTOWN - Clarence Richard Goss, 89, formerly of Lewistown died at 9:50 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2014, at Valley View Nursing Home in Belleville.

Born on Nov. 20, 1924, in Lewistown he was a son of the late David Wesley and Mabel (Stine) Goss.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. (Donahey) Goss on Oct. 10, 2008, and two brothers, Paul and Robert Goss.

Clarence is survived by: his children, Richard W. Goss and wife, Cynthia, Linda Molek and husband, Thomas, Jr., both of Lewistown, and Diane DeArment and husband, Dale, of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and Ray Dunmire; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a 1942 graduate of Lewistown High School. Clarence served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Earlier in life he worked at the Viscose, Standard Steel and Krentzman's Supply. Later, he was an office manager and part-owner of the Central Penn Supply Company.

He was a former member of First Baptist Church and a current member of Evangel Baptist Church. Clarence was a Sunday school teacher and youth leader at First Baptist Church. He also was a radio announcer. He belonged to the Full Gospel Business Men's organization and United Commercial Travelers' (UCT).

Clarence enjoyed his many mission trips to Haiti and cruises with his wife. In his later years his passion was providing housing for those in need of a fresh start.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Tuesday, April 29, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with the Rev. David Purdy officiating.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

Interment with VFW Post 7011 honors will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.

Memorials in Clarence's name may be made to Evangel Baptist Church, 375 W. 5th St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
