MIFFLINTOWN - Luella M. Woods, 76, of The Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown, and formerly of Mifflintown, died at 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the manor.
Born on April 9, 1938, in Hershey, Dauphin County, she is the daughter of the late Woodrow W. and Irene (Bashore) Lightner. On March 21, 1959 she married her surviving husband, John S. Woods, with whom she shared more than 55 years of marriage.
Surviving are: her children, Kathy Singer and her husband, Rick, Kenny Woods and his wife, Annette, Bonnie Naylor and her husband, Charlie, Lynn Mingle and her husband, Mark, all of Mifflintown, Dawn Woods and her companion, Terry Frymoyer, of Arminto, Wyo, Bobby Woods, of Honey Grove; siblings, Thelma Curtis, N.C., Samuel Lightner, Cindy Lightner, both of Palmyra, Virginia Williams, Mary Hill, both of Harrisburg, Sharon Hoffer, Linglestown; and she leaves behind eight grandchildren, Nicole Kehler and her husband, Brett, Jason and Eric Naylor, Cody Woods, Kevin Woods and his wife, Rachel, Justin Mingle, Kenton and Karter Woods, as well as two great-grandchildren, Logan and Hope Kehler.

One grandson, Ben Singer, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Woods was a 1956 graduate of Hershey High School, and a member of the Locust Run United Methodist Church, where she had served with the Ladies Aid. She also was a life member of the Juniata County Coon Hunters Assoc., and had belonged to the Rebekah Lodge, McAlisterville.
She had a long career as a cook at various restaurants in Central Pennsylvania before owning and operating the Woods Family Restaurant, Thompsontown.
Luella was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan who enjoyed cooking, reading, and playing cards; however, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Barbara Yorks officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the funeral home.
