LEWISTOWN - A resolution authorizing the beginning of demotion proceedings for an unnamed district employee was tabled Thursday by the Mifflin County School District Board of Directors, without comment from board members nor any of the large contingent of people in attendance.
The regular monthly business meeting began with an executive session that lasted for 16 minutes. When the meeting resumed, an item on the addendum, which stated, "Recommend approval of the attached proposed resolution authorizing the commencement of demotion proceedings relative to Employee A," was tabled by a unanimous vote.
During the meeting's public comment period, Board President Mary Lou Sigler asked if anyone had questions regarding any non-personnel issues.

When no one responded, she read a brief statement, noting the board has received no indication that any employee has waived his or her rights to confidentiality, therefore, the board is not permitted to discuss this personnel issue in a public forum. Sigler went on to say anyone wishing to ask questions or make comments can contact the superintendent's office and set up an appointment to discuss the matter in an executive session setting.
As the crowd dispersed following the meeting, no one responded when asked if anyone had any comments or concerns about the matter.
