Thomas W. ‘TJ’ Winegardner Jr.

MIFFLINTOWN - Thomas W. "TJ" Winegardner Jr., 30, of Mifflintown, died at 8:35 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at his home.

Born on Dec. 11, 1983, in Decatur, Macon County, Ill., he is the son of Thomas W. and Barbara A. (McCray) Winegardner Sr., of Pierson, Fla.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by: a son, Thomas W. "Liam" Winegardner III, of Mifflintown; two sisters, Daphne M. Fay and her husband, Eric Sr., of Frisco, Texas, and Lacey L. Martin and her husband, David, of Chantilly, Va.; his maternal grandparents, Leroy and Judy (Aper) McCray, of Lincoln, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews, Emma Fay, Hadley Fay, Eric Fay Jr., Brody Martin, Ava Martin and Bella Martin.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William D. and Nancy Lee (Watson) Winegardner.

He was a member of the St. Jude's Catholic Church, Mifflintown.

TJ's interests included hunting, fishing, four-wheeler riding and racing sprint cars. His racing career began when he was 18 years old. Some of his achievements included being the ASCS Rebel Regional Champion, Port Royal Speedway rookie of the year, Port Royal, and East Bay rookie of the year, Tampa, Fla. He loved driving with the renowned PA Posse.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown, with the Rev. William Weary officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln, Ill.

There will be no public viewing; however, family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
