C. ‘June’ Snyder

LEWISTOWN - C. "June" Snyder, 80, of Burnham, died at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Geisinger-Lewis- town Hospital.

Born on March 11, 1934, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Sarah K. (Baker) Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Eugene Snyder, and a brother, Ronald Smith.

June is survived by: husband, Donald H. "Pete" Snyder, whom she married on May 31, 1953; children, Edward Charles Snyder and wife, Cheryl, of Lewistown; daughter-in-law, Jan Snyder, of Reedsville; three grandchildren, Corinne Snyder, Jennifer Yutuc and husband, Dennis, both of Maryland, Lauren E. Snyder, of Lewistown; great-grandchildren, Me'Lani and Steven Yutuc; and siblings, Harold "Dick" Smith, Wilfred "Wiff" Smith, both of Burnham, Shirley A. Hess, of Hershey, Kay E. Baumgardner and husband, Jerry, of Lewistown, Ethel M. Carter, of Baltimore Md., Dennis W. Smith and wife, Nancy, of Holly Springs, N.C., and Pamela M. Zeiders and husband, Paul, of Yeagertown.

She was a 1952 graduate of Burnham High School.

Earlier in life, she worked briefly at Standard Steel, was a secretary at Womeldorf Trucking and then later worked at First National Bank and Mellon Bank. She gave up her working career to help raise her grandchildren. June absolutely enjoyed her grandkids' athletic events and loved family get togethers.

June was a member of Freedom Avenue Church of the Brethren, where she was a secretary and sang in the choir. She also was a volunteer for the Burnham Community Pool and helping to reopen the pool.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Robert Zorn officiating.

June's viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Burnham Church of the Brethren, 541 E. Freedom Ave., Burnham, PA 17009 or to U.C.P. Central Pa. Capital Homecare, 925 Linda Lane, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
