Her younger sister, Cheryl Ann Barbier, also preceeded her in death.

Cindy was employed for more than 20 years, prior to a tragic car accident, as an English and French teacher at the following schools in Mifflin County: Indian Valley Middle and High Schools, Chief Logan Middle and High Schools, Lewistown Middle and High Schools, Strodes Mills Middle School and Kishacoquillas High School. Her students were her passion and as a French foreign exchange student herself during her college years, she also loved to teach the French language and culture to them.

Her interests and hobbies included travel, especially out west to our many national parks and forests. She participated in numerous running races and triathlons and loved spending time with family, particularly her nephews, Jason & David Cole and Trey Runkle. She also found the time to run a small side business, selling cookware and china.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at VA Beach Healthcare that cared for and provided as much comfort as possible to Cindy over the past 16 years.

A memorial service honoring Cindy's life will be held at Great Bridge Presbyterian Church in Chesapeake, VA at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 18.
