ORANGEVILLE - Helen Kathryn (Kuhns) Dreese, 95, completed her journey in this life on March 1, 2014, at the Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she resided for six years.
Previously, she had resided with her daughter in Bloomsburg for 15 years and had lived most of her life in Lewistown.
Helen was born on Wednesday, June 26, 1918, in Altoona. She was the daughter of Edward and Mary Jane (Trimble) Kuhns. She attended Lewistown High School and, during her younger years, she was employed by Rea and Derick and The Creamery, both in Lewistown.
On Sept. 1, 1936, Helen married Robert Benton Dreese Sr. She took pleasure in caring for her family and home and was truly a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lewistown from the time of her confirmation as a teen.
On Jan. 31, 1991, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years. Also preceding her in death was a grandson, Steven Andrew Dreese.
She is survived by: a son, Robert B. Dreese Jr. and wife, Margaret Rose, of Lewistown; a daughter, Debra Jean Dreese-Hoch and husband, Richard, of Bloomsburg; a grandson, Mark Allen Dreese and wife, Jennifer, of McClure; and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown. Graveside committal services will be held after the service, in Mount Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
