LEWISTOWN - The National Weather Service in State College has issued a freezing rain advisory for Juniata, Mifflin and Huntingdon counties from 4 to 9 a.m. today.
The weather service predicts there will be light freezing rain which will accumulate a thin glaze of ice over many locations with up to 0.1 inch of ice over the central mountains.
According to the weather service, the freezing rain with cause hazardous travel, mainly on untreated roads and bridges. Sidewalks and metal objects may also have a glaze of ice.

Chunks of ice float Tuesday on the Juniata River at Mifflintown. Ice and freezing rain is expected this morning, but then temperatures are expected to rise into the 40s and reach the 50s by the weekend, which could lead to the melting of much of the area’s ice and snow.
The weather service says there will be light and variable winds and the temperatures will be in the upper 20s to the lower 30s.
