LEWISTOWN - The National Weather Service in State College has issued a winter storm warning that will remain in effect until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the weather service, the advisory is in effect for Mifflin and Juniata counties. The weather service predicts there will be 4 to 8 inches of snow and up to one-tenth of an inch of ice.
The weather service says the snow will become heavy at times during the pre-dawn and early morning hours Wednesday. Snow could mix with or change to sleet and freezing rain in the morning. The wintry precipitation is expected to end by afternoon.
The weather service says there will be dangerous travel conditions due to the snow and ice covered roads and there will be reduced visibility. The snow and ice accumulation on trees and utility lines may cause power outages. The weather service says the morning commute will be severely impacted.
