MIFFLIN - Carl S. Johnson, 79, formerly of Lewistown, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born Dec. 31, 1934, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late James F. and Eleanor (Wise) Johnson.
Surviving are: wife, Betty J. (Chambers) Johnson, of Thompsontown; daughter, Mary J. Warner and husband, Mike, of Mifflintown; two sons, Carl H. Johnson and wife, Vickie, of Lewistown, and Kenneth Eugene Johnson, of McClure; five grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Keith L. Johnson, on Nov. 7, 2013, as well as five brothers and two sisters.
Carl was a former employee of Empire Kosher Poultry Inc., Mifflintown. Earlier in life, he worked for Kreider Construction Company, in Lewistown.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating. Interment will be held after the service in the Mount Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
