To the editor:
With the gay community and gay marriage being a huge topic with the media and society to the tune of 641 million Google search locations, we feel our perspective should be put on the subject.
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.-2 Timothy 1:7
The early church fathers such as Tertullian (160-225), Eusebius of Caesarea (260-341), Saint Augustine (354-430), and Saint Gregory the Great (540-604) did not speak with timidity in their denouncement of homosexual consummation. They boldly stated that "(God in the Law given to Moses) having forbidden all unlawful marriage, and all unseemly practice, and the union of women with women and men with men." From this it follows that every sexual intercourse that cannot lead to conception is opposed to man's animal nature." Those offenses which be contrary to nature are everywhere and at all times to be held in detestation and punished; such were those of the Sodomites, which should all nations commit, they should all be held guilty of the same crime by the divine law, which hath not so made men that they should in that way abuse one another. So it was just that Sodomites, burning with perverse desires arising from the flesh like stench, should perish by fire and sulfur so that through this just punishment they would realize the evil they had committed, led by a perverse desire."
With the gay marriage scenario being played out in today's society why do we not hear more about these sins and subsequent hell from today's clergy? Do they want to be politically correct?
In an article "Sodom And Gomorrah Symptoms Visible Again" by Rev. Joseph Mohr, The (Allentown) Morning Call he writes:
"Sodom and Gomorrah often are referred to in the Bible as striking examples of degradation and abomination, well deserving the divine judgment rained upon them. They are spoken of today as examples of what could happen to impenitent, chronic sinners. Prophets today see some similarity between the fire from heaven that consumed those cities and the holocaust that would follow the unlimited use of nuclear weapons."
That "degradation and abomination," is certainly supported by the Democratic Party.
Churches and their congregations should pay attention to the following: Revelation 3:16 states: "So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Revelation 3:13: "Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
To be not luke warm we invite everyone to participate in prayer for the churches and the sinners on Sunday, Jan. 19, in our Lewistown Pro Life March.
