MIFFLINTOWN - A Mifflin man was killed Christmas Eve when he was struck by a car on state Route 35 in Milford Township.
According to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown, David Kirkland, 62, of Mifflin, was hit by a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Tricia Epsitia, 28, also from Mifflin, when Kirkland ran into the path of Epsitia's car.
Police did not say in the report why Kirkland was on the road at the time.
According to the report, Epsitia hit Kirkland head on, causing him to be thrown to the western side of Route 35. Police said Epsitia and her two passengers, both juveniles, were uninjured during the crash. All three were wearing seatbelts, police said.
Kirkland was co-owner of Back Home Trading Company in Mifflintown.
