LEWISTOWN - I. Burton Searer, 99, of Lewistown, died at 11:27 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Golden LivingCenter-William Penn.
Born on Jan. 31, 1914, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late J. Burton and Carrie (Hassinger) Searer.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, A. Berneice (Cook) Jones-Searer and a stepdaughter, JoAnn Moore.
Burton is survived by: son, Dennis Blaine Searer and wife, Ruth "Sis" (Crimmel); stepchildren, Judy Schalles and husband, Albert, of Colorado, Phyllis Palm and husband, Mike, of Lewistown, William Jones and wife, Judy, of Harrington, Del., and William Moore, of Mechanicsburg; sisters, Betty Flagle, of Harrisburg, and Loyce Huff, of Lewistown; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Lewistown High School.
He was a cabinet maker, worked at Letterman's and Stroehman's Bakeries, and lastly, was a manager at the A&P in Lewistown.
Burton attended Trinity United Church of Christ.
He loved horses and traveling, and earlier in his life, he was active in Boy Scouting.
Services will be private and held at a later date.
