McCLURE - John R. "Johnny" Thomas, 75, of Ulsh Gap Road, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 3, 1938, in Spring Township, Snyder County, a son of the late John and Beulah Mae (Wright) Thomas.
Johnny was a 1956 graduate of Beaver Vocational High School.

Early in his life he was employed by the Millerstown Shoe factory. He then farmed for 40 years with his brother, Albert at Cold Springs Farm. After leaving the farm, he worked at Kauffman's Farm Supply and Middlecreek Pallet.
He was a member of Grace Reformed Church, Troxelville, and attended the Susquehanna Valley Church of Christ, Selinsgrove. He was a member of the American Folk Music Association and was active in square dancing. He was also a member of the Model T Ford Club International and had done Model T tours of Michigan, Tennessee and Vermont.
Johnny enjoyed antique cars, NASCAR, hunting and caring for his children.
He is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, John R. Jr. and Deb Thomas, of Mount Pleasant Mills; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Polly J. and Jeffery Swank, of Lewisburg, Connie M. and Kenneth Walter, of Mount Pleasant Mills, and Denise M. Papcunik, of Windber; seven grandchildren, Zachary and Zane Thomas, Preston Tharp, Ryan Snook and wife, Dianna, Amanda Walter, and A.J. and Adam Papcunik; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Albert and Arlene Thomas, of McClure, Marvin and Jane Thomas, of Florida, Mabel Thomas, of McClure, and Phyllis Thomas, of Lewisburg; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Beatrice Thomas, of Beaver Springs, Kate and Paul Saylor, of Beavertown, Martha and Fred Thomas, of Carlisle, and Thad Moist, of McClure; and his companion of 19 years, Joyce Wagner, of Mifflinburg.
He was preceded in death by: two brothers, Glenn and Russel Thomas; two sisters, Bertha Goss and Ruth Moist; and one brother-in-law, Clair Goss.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Susquehanna Valley Church of Christ, 200 16th St., Selinsgrove. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the church, with Bill Dilks officiating.
Burial will be in the Black Oak Ridge Cemetery, McClure.
