MIFFLIN - Fay Getter Rodgers, 91, formerly of Green Ave., Lewistown, died at 7:35 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Locust Grove in Mifflin.
Born on Aug. 14, 1922, in Belleville, he was a son of the late Harry Joel and Daisy I. (Trostile) Rodgers.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife, Martha A. (Olnick) Rodgers, whom he married on Aug. 29, 1942, and died on Nov. 9, 1993; son, Harry Joel Rodgers on March 13, 1972; and a sister, Norma I. Kurtz.
Fay is survived by: his companion, Violet G. Berryman, since 2001; children, Frederick F. Rodgers and wife, Nancy, of Lewistown, Dennis E. Rodgers, and wife, Damaris, of Southern Pines, N.C.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was a WWII Army Veteran in the 538th Ordnance Company in the European Theatre.
He won six club championships at Lewistown Country Club and made 14 hole-in-ones over his lifetime.
Earlier in life he was employed for 40 years at Standard Steel as a machinist, and later, worked as an area maintenance manager in the Wheel Mill, retiring in 1982.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
