To the editor:
Did you that if House Bill 1189 passes the State Senate and Governor Corbett signs it, local school districts could lower property taxes for wealthy land and property owners and seniors and make up the difference out of your paycheck? That's right.
That bill would allow school districts to switch property taxes to the earned income of workers, but wouldn't touch Social Security retirement benefits, capital gains, dividends, interest, or rental income. In short, seniors and the wealthy would get property tax cuts and workers would pay for them.
To paraphrase an old song, "they'll get the gold mine, and you'll get the shaft."
If you don't think this is fair or right, then let your State Senator know your feelings about House Bill 1189. Otherwise, workers beware
