Lewistown graduate Emily (Lepley) Shank was inducted into the Susquehanna University Hall of Fame Friday. The hall of fame class was presented at Saturday’s homecoming football game, where Shank, right, caught up with her college coach, another Lewistown native, Jim Taylor. Shank, who still holds the District 6 300-meter hurdle record from her days as a Panther, is an eight-time All-American hurdler and one of the winningest athletes Susquehanna has produced. She left with five individual school records and three relay records. Shank won three straight Middle Atlantic Conference titles in the 55 hurdles (indoor) and was a three-time MAC outdoor champion in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles. She also claimed two 400 indoor titles. She was named MAC Athlete of the Year in 2005 and 2007 at both the indoor and outdoor championship meets and was the 2005 NCAA Mideast Regional Athlete of the Year after winning the NCAA DIII championship in the 400 hurdles.
