BELLEVILLE - Homecoming at Belleville Mennonite produced a 2-0 boys soccer win over Carson Long Saturday.
Andrew Miller had a hand in both Thunder goals, assisting on the first early in the opening half, then scoring the second with just six minutes left to play in the contest.
Belleville Mennonite coach Brian Renno said he was somewhat concerned with the goal-to-shot ratio - his team put the ball in front of the Warrior net 27 times - but explained that the one thing Carson Long was doing well was defending.
"They had maybe one attacking player. They just really packed the box against us," Renno said. "It was a matter of being creative with the ball."
Belleville Mennonite (10-3-1) travels to Juniata today.
Lewisburg 2, Midd-West 0
LEWISBURG - A pair of first-half goals held up for Lewisburg Saturday as the Green Dragons blanked Midd-West 2-0 in a Heartland Conference girls soccer game.
More important, the game put Midd-West on the brink of playoff elimination before the postseason begins. The Mustangs (6-8-1, 4-7-1) must win their final three games to be eligible in District 4, starting with a road contest Tuesday at Williamsport.
