LEWISTOWN - Emery C. Kirk, 82, of Farm View Lane, Lewistown, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at his home.
He was born on May 5, 1931 in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, to the late Lehman N. and Catherine [Kinzer] Kirk.
His first wife, Lois Rae [Garland] Kirk, preceded him in death on July 1, 1983. He is survived by his second wife, Paula Jane [Reik] Kirk, whom he married on Sept. 2, 1989.
Surviving children include son, Kenneth L. Kirk, of Blairs Mills; daughter, Catheanne Walton and husband, John, Jr., of Avon, Maine; daughter Troy L. Burd and husband, Paul William, of Spruce Hill; son Garland L. Kirk and wife, Ronni, of East Waterford; and daughter Renee V. Kirk, of Harrisburg.
Also surviving are stepchildren, David P. Kauffman and wife, Vicki, of Lewistown; and Darlene Davis and husband, Steven, of Mexico. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren, as well as two sisters, D. Joanne Gray, of Honey Grove, and Ivamae Love and husband, Glen, of Waterloo.
Mr. Kirk graduated from Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown in 1949. As his first job, he drove a milk truck before noon for W. F. Henry, and then in the afternoons, he worked for his father at the L.N. Kirk Mercantile Store in East Waterford. In 1954, he purchased his own milk route and was self-employed until June of 1960, when he went to work for Texas Eastern Pipe Line Company, Perulack, Juniata County, retiring in February of 1987, with 27 years of service.
He was a member of the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove. He also was a member of the McVeytown Fire and Ambulance Company.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove with Pastor Dennis R. Thompson, Jr. officiating.
Interment will take place in the East Waterford Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. till the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Juniata Baptist Church, 3647 Smokey Hollow Road, Honey Grove, PA 17035.
The family has entrusted the Rex Funeral Home with the arrangements.
