Elizabeth G. “Betty” Fleming Zook

BELLEVILLE - Elizabeth G. "Betty" Fleming Zook, 91, of 250 Hartzler Drive, Belleville, died Oct. 6, 2013, at her home.

She was born on July 12, 1922, in Mifflin, a daughter of Darwin C. Heaps Sr. and Marian (Wolfe) Heaps, who preceded her in death. Her husband, Paul S. Zook, died on July 10, 2013. Her first husband, James "Scotchie" Felming, died in 1993.

Surviving are: stepchildren, Frank Zook and companion, Mary Lee Sheaffer, of Reedsville, and Paula Hoenstine and her husband, Bill, of Lewistown and Orlando; stepgrandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Zook; step great-granddaughter, Brooke Hoenstine; sister-in-law, Wilma Heaps, of Mifflintown; and cousin Hannah Bashore, and her husband, Harry and their children, Damon and Briana Smith, of McAlisterville.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Darwin C. Heaps Jr. and a step-grandson, Brian Hoenstine.

She graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1941, and was employed in the accounting department of Standard Steel for 32 years until her retirement in 1977.

In her earlier years, she was an avid golfer and enjoyed taking walks. More recently, she enjoyed watching golf and Penn State football. She also enjoyed traveling, going on shopping trips with her village neighbors and spending time with her family. Betty attended Locust Grove Mennonite Church in Belleville.

A funeral service will be held in her memory at 10:30 a.m Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, with Pastors Max Zook and Ivan Yoder officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the church.

Her family will provide all flowers. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to, Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 3358 W. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004, or to Valley View Haven, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004.

Arrangements are under the care of the Henderson Funeral Home Inc., 3813 W. Main St., Belleville.
