NEWVILLE - Darien Knudsen crossed the line ninth overall, setting the pace for Mifflin County, whose boys team finished seventh out of 20 entrants in the Class AAA race at the Ben Bloser Bulldog Invitational cross country meet Saturday at Big Spring.
Knudsen's 17:18 time was a minute ahead of his nearest teammate, Josh Aultz. The boys stayed close as they finished the race, which was won by Dallastown.
"We're a little bit inconsistent with the kids. They're changing order every meet," Huskies coach Greg Loht said. "We're runing a tight pack but we don't know whose going to be next."
Amanda Hassinger ran a 22:14 to lead the Mifflin County girls; she joined Knudsen on the medal stand. The girls were 10th overall out of 18; Chambersburg was No. 1.
"I'm happy with how they both ran," Loht said. "It's the same course where we ran Mid-Penn last year and a couple of the girls are over a minute ahead of last year."
Shane Sennett and Anthony Shifanio both medaled in the JV event.
